The Different Hats of MJ’s Coaching
Nearly a decade ago, my business coach said to me, “You have a unique set of skills that I have never seen in one place before. You can explain technology in simple terms, communicate brilliantly through the written word, teach about internet marketing, help writers become entrepreneurs, and weave it all together with energy consciousness, spirituality, and personal development.” In one sentence, she described all of the elements of my coaching.
In 30 years in the publishing industry, the 150 authors who I have helped become published with my writing coaching hat on have learned much more than how to write. Yes, that is a critical skill to have in today’s world of information. But what I’m just as excited about is helping those authors break through their fears, step into the power of their message, and gain the skills to build their businesses and expand their lives through writing.
Having been a technical writer in the early days of the internet, when I started to build my coaching business, I quickly saw how the internet could help with my marketing. As I studied different online tools and methods, I began to weave what I had learned into my coaching sessions with clients. On those occasions, I would put on my business and internet marketing coach hat.
Writing can be fun, easy, and exciting, but many of my clients needed to find the time, the energy, and the focus to create their work. On went my life coaching hat to help them focus on getting their lives aligned with their vision, whether it was to be published, or to build a business, or both.
And while I was building my own business and shaping my own life, I wove in what I was learning about energy and shamanism, quantum physics, and the law of attraction. During coaching calls I became a channel for the spirits as they helped me guide and teach my clients to be in the flow of life, to be inspired, and to see what limitations they needed to overcome to fulfill their dreams. With help from my guides, I had put on my spiritual coach hat.
It was during those times that my clients were able to integrate all of the information and make quantum leaps in their writing, their businesses, and their lives.
